During my recent New Year's trip, I found myself at Welog Rast Ilz, nestled conveniently on the speedway in Austria. Initially, I was taken aback wondering if it was merely a gas station, but I was pleasantly surprised by the warm hospitality and efficiency of the staff, especially the lovely lady at the counter who aided me in a challenging payment situation, even without a common language. The rooms, while lacking air conditioning, were thoughtfully furnished with essentials like a flat-screen TV and a refrigerator, making it a comfortable base for tired travelers like myself, who had embarked on this adventure with my fiancée. Despite the proximity to the highway, I enjoyed restful nights since the soundproof windows kept the noise at bay. The 24-hour on-site supermarket and bistro offered great convenience for late-night snacks, while an ATM machine and electric car charging station catered to various needs, which I found commendable for adventurers on the go. Welog Rast Ilz proved to be more than just a rest stop; it became a cozy haven for weary explorers looking to embrace the rugged beauty of the surrounding landscapes while preparing for their next escapade.
